Tiny Carrot!

All the kale is gone from the garden; it got eaten by bugs. And now the apartment is filled with ladybugs–where were you a few weeks ago? I also pulled up some tiny beets; clearly the root veggies need more time underground.

Updated Cornbread, in Muffin Format, with Sourdough Variation

Cornbread, cornbread, always will be mine…

Yeah, that was an attempt to play on And One’s “Military Fashion Show.” “Girlfriend’s girlfriends never could be mine,” girlfriend = GF, GF also = gluten-free, get it?

I made so much cornbread (like, a batch a week) when I first became gluten-free in 2011. My recipe then was heavily fruit-based, though I’ve made other variations since, including applesauce-really-fast, basil-beer, and blueberry

Veg*n Ventures | Chocolate Hazelnut Torte

Continuing on the theme of last Saturday’s post, I realise since March I have patronized quite a few restaurants in the DMV area. Being a cashier and having a standing sedentary job is no more healthy than being a desk jockey with a sitting sedentary job. The inconsistent hours, workload, and cast of characters is beginning to wear on me. When a job begins to impact my health negatively, in preventable ways, then it’s time to go. This is a job, not my career.

Kiss My Face’s “Super-Hydrating Moisturizer” in coconut variety.

I had a coupon and my hands are cracking from all the hand-washing I do and from working in a cold environment (yeah, nobody wants to work those registers by the door). In hindsight, I reflected, as I rubbed the thick cream on my hands before putting on my Halloween sock-gloves before bed, I could’ve saved myself a couple bucks and put coconut oil on my hands. Granted, my sheets would’ve become uber-greasy but my chapped hands might knit back together, thus, uh, lubricated.
