How to Season and Maintain Cast Iron Cookware

Cast iron pans: sign of a true DIY-er, in this day and age of convenience food and non-stick cookware.  Or a sign of someone who grew up in the Southern or Western United States.  Or the sign of a “foodie” poseur.

Corporate Wellness is Fun! And Potentially Dangerous!

Running with scissors is fun until you fall.

Gothic Granola Exercise Playlist, Version 20.16

I have been making the same carb-a-licious muffins lately, so how about something different? Another exercise playlist, perhaps? Yes!

I miss my squirrel “training partners” (and I did bribe them with peanuts) and my outdoor exercise space sometimes.

Summer Trip Heart Attack

Road food is not kind to vegans…or really, to anyone.  TC and I were eating a very unhealthy breakfast of fries (for me) and French toast (for him) somewhere in South Dakota and he said, “Ugh, I feel like I’m gonna have a heart attack after eating all this heavy food this trip.”  Which led to a certain song being stuck in my head for the rest of the trip…

Sweet Potato Pie, Version 2, Other Baked Goods, and Reflection

A fully cooked sweet potato pie!

For once I didn’t eat plain leftover roasted sweet potatoes. Instead, I baked with them and made a sweet potato pie.  I’m not Southern, so I made a maple-sweetened pumpkin pie with sweet potatoes instead of pumpkin and 1/4 cup of maple syrup instead of organic sugar.  Besides being out of organic sugar and coconut sugar, I’m running low on “white” flours; I used half buckwheat flour in the crust recipe from this pecan pie post.
